To pronounce the /S/ sound, gently close your front teeth and leave your lips slightly open. Position your tongue very close to the upper-front roof of your mouth. Leave about a 2-6 mm gap between the tip of your tongue and the front roof of your mouth to form a narrow pathway. Push voiceless air out through the pathway between your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Make sure your voice is not on (vocal cords are not vibrating).

For spring break, my friend Sam went to South America and bought me a silk scarf that she found on sale. My other friend Susan went skiing in Switzerland and bought me an original Swiss army knife. I was forced to stay in San Diego because I was sick with the flu. While sitting in bed, I could only surf the Internet and pretend like I was somewhere else by looking at pictures of other scenic places.

I spent a lot of time and money on the Internet because I had so much trouble sleeping. Instead of turning off the computer, I bought stuff I really didn't need, like stickers for my car, a new stereo system and six pairs of sunglasses. Instead of eating something from my kitchen, I ordered several meals off the Internet that I never finished because I was so sick. I think I still have leftover steak from last Saturday.

I even socialized and chatted with strangers online who were so sympathetic that they wanted to bring me soup. However, I told them I was not single because I thought it was strange that they wanted to meet me so soon . Because I was worried about stalkers, I stopped chatting and surfing the Internet. My friend Steve came over and we watched sports and soap operas on my satellite television. He also went to the video store and rented several scary movies.

Even though I was sick, I still enjoyed my spring break. Anything is better than studying and getting stressed out about a test in school.
